If you stick ear bud style headphones in your nostrils and close your mouth you can’t really hear them. But if you open your mouth they sound fine.

This is a truck on my block. Not sure I agree with the spelling, but you can’t deny the dedication.

Why is it always “turn this right side out” rather than “wrong side in”?

Isaac and I were driving around town this weekend running errands. This was the scene:

*5 minutes of silence*
Isaac: Daddy! Cow rhymes with Now.
*2 more minutes of silence*
Isaac: And Truck rhymes with Buck.

There is an unwritten rule that when you pass oncoming traffic on a dirt road, you must give the universal male greeting, the headbobfingerwag.

Yesterday around 10:45 am I was walking across the street and saw a glass case sitting right in the middle of the road, destined to be crushed. I bent down to pick it up and was pleasantly surprised that the owner had put her name and cell phone number in it. Called and left a message, she called back, and soon had her glasses back. She was extremely grateful about the whole thing and I was chipper for having done a good deed for the day.

Around Noon I went to lunch, and didn’t get my debit card back. Or maybe she put it back next to me and I never noticed it. Either way, I left the establishment without my card. 6 hours later, someone bought $430 dollars worth of stuff on it at Circuity City. I realized the card was missing this morning, quickly cancelled it, and checked my transactions. I’ll probably have the money back by the end of the day.

We now own a car with a key that you put in the dashboard. We bought a new, claret red, 2006 Kia Sedona LX this weekend. I’m still in shock that we drove off the lot in a car that had 25 miles on it. It was not necessarily the wisest financial move, but that’s not necessarily a first for us. :)

Buying a car is usually a shitty experience, and this was no different, on the whole. The final agent we dealt with was great, but getting there was a chore. The first agent seemed to think he was a Saturn dealer. “Well here’s the MSRP, and here’s the (painfully low) trade in, and that’s pretty much it.” Seeya!

I had some sorrow when we left our old car. We’ve taken a half dozen more or so cross country trips in it. I drove Cassandra to the hospital to have Isaac in that car. We drove Isaac to the hospital after he broke his thigh. I drove across the country to my mother’s funeral, a month after 9/11. We used it to haul garbage, couches, fridges, freezers, mattresses, lumber, lizards, crayons, french fries, melted crayons, and sometimes people. Goodbye old friend!
