With all the wifi and digital floating around, I had some hair brained ideas of putting them to use.

- Make digital cameras that can send and receive photos. At popular photo sites like the grand canyon there are hundreds of shots flying around all around you. Wouldn’t it be cool if all the photos were flying on the ether and you could snag them and pick all the best images? Even if it weren’t a peer to peer thing, the site itself could collect them. Would you be interested in going to a website and seeing all the pictures taken at Alcatraz that day?

- Along the same lines, make mp3 players that can send and receive streams in a small local area. At the gym there are a ton of mp3 players. It would be nice to check out some other streams, expand my horizons. My player would keep playing while it was listening to other streams. No playlist browsing is even necessary, it just taps in to whatever else is currenly being played.

These uses put the N in niche, but they sure would be cool.

I got a full 8 hours of sleep last night. I barely know what to do with myself.

For the first time in a while I lounged the day away, nearly guilt free. This week was one of the most hectic in a long time, and the one’s before it weren’t the best either. All hell broke loose on Monday at work when we migrated some insufficiently tested code into production. At home we were preparing for an onslaught of 12 others for a Thanksgiving feast.

Thanksgiving was a blast though. I had definate reservations heading in, and visions of a landmine or two exploding. But it was a fantastic gathering, as most of them end up being, and I find myself wishing we entertained more often.

- Before I was in the know, sippy cups were devices used to protect floors and furniture from careless kids. But in practice they are just as useful in protecting the poor juice from chips, carrots, yogurt, and countless other things kids think taste good when dunked.

- When a child injures themself doing something they’re not supposed to, there is a formula for how long you will comfort them before scolding.
Some of the variables include your own coefficient of scolding (how likely you are to scold in any situation), the severity of the injury, the risk of the activity, and probably most important, how well your day or week has gone so far. The unplannable X factor is how humorous the injury may be, then you’re into the scold/comfort/laugh equation which requires differential equations.

There’s a little snow dusting the mountain. It’s in a small crevice lit by the sun while the rest of the range remains layered in shadow and cloud.

The clouds hugging and surrounding the mountains is one of the most wonderful sights of Tucson.

The desk in “The Daily Show” is the same color blue as the fiberglass t-square I made in 8th grade shop.

I just thought you should all know that.

It rained lightly last night for hours and hours. The fresh smell this morning is breath taking.

How soon I’m able to go through my daily list of websites to visit is a very good indicator of how hectic my day has been. Most days it’s well before lunch. Today I’ll probably get to it around 11p while watching Survivor.

The gate is finally done. Well, almost.

It’s taken forever, and more trips to the hardware store than I can count. I still need to get a bigger masonry drill bit to put in the post.

It’s pretty ironic that I replaced a huge heavy gate that we could barely open with a light free swinging one we can’t keep closed. :)

151st visit to the gym on Monday, so I thought it was time for another update. In a nutshell, we’re still going, still lifting. Whee.

I’m definately in a motivational trough, or a maybe on a plateau, or whatever geographical metaphor you prefer to use for “stuck”. I’ve lost about 8 pounds in nearly a year and a half of going to the gym 3 times a week. I’ve absolutely lost size, and continue to notice changes in my physique. When I look at the chubby face on my membership card and compare it to a mirror, the difference is striking. But I still hover around a weight I don’t want.

Even though I’ve been generally on top of things on the diet front, I obviously need to pick that up a notch.
