- Before I was in the know, sippy cups were devices used to protect floors and furniture from careless kids. But in practice they are just as useful in protecting the poor juice from chips, carrots, yogurt, and countless other things kids think taste good when dunked.
- When a child injures themself doing something they’re not supposed to, there is a formula for how long you will comfort them before scolding.
Some of the variables include your own coefficient of scolding (how likely you are to scold in any situation), the severity of the injury, the risk of the activity, and probably most important, how well your day or week has gone so far. The unplannable X factor is how humorous the injury may be, then you’re into the scold/comfort/laugh equation which requires differential equations.
