Jane’s first loose tooth has been loose for a few weeks now. Apparently the principal at her school, who is a super nice lady, is an expert tooth puller. I’m not sure what finally motivated her today, but after school she and Cassandra went to the principal’s office and came out a gap toothed 6 year old. Her first tooth! Yay!

Before bedtime she made a card for the tooth fairy. But she’s a pretty sensitive little girl. When we traded our car in, without her, we had to drive back to the dealership so she could hug it goodbye. So as the kids were drifting off to sleep I heard her crying. I scurried in to see what was going on, and she didn’t want to give up her tooth. “I’m going to save them all and give them to her at once”, she intially decided. “Okay sweetie, we can put it in your chest and she won’t be able to find it.” As I left the room she had switched to giving them two at a time.

I installed the Firefox 2 release client. It’s okay, nothing too earth shattering. It does have spell checking on every input fields, which is nifty. I’m curious where they got their dictionary though.

We went to lunch at a bar & grill with a TV that you can’t hear. TV is on CNN. I glance over and see the headline “NORAD scrambles fighters over several US cities”. I had to read the stupid scrolling bottom for a few minutes before finding out it had to do with the airline crash in NYC, not something truly horrible related to the recent nuclear tests.

I haven’t combed my hair in 4 or 5 months

I haven’t combed my hair in 4 or 5 months

If we had evolved with 4 fingers, would we all be using base 8 now?

Conversation with Jane:
Her: “Daddy, I had chopped robin for lunch today! And it was gooood.”
    Me: “Chopped robin?”
    Her: “Yep, chopped robin.”
Me: “Uhm, what is chopped robin?”
Her: “It’s kind of like soup, but it has a lot of noodles in it.”

I got a big smile on my face and decided not to correct her, it was too damn cute.

Conversation with Isaac, after an incident with a mosquito buzzing around his face while he was trying to sleep:
Me: “Why are you out of bed?”
Him: “I’m scared of the muskeetos.”
Me: “Okay honey, you can go sleep in my bed and I’ll move you back to your room later on.”
Him: “But the skeetos will still get me then!”
Me: “All the mosquitos leave your room at midnight.”
Him: “They all go to sleep at midnight?”
    Me: “Yes son”.

I haven’t read The Onion regularly for quite a while. While it’s usually funny, it mostly boils down to the same group of jokes adapted to various situations. I do listen to the Onion podcast, though, since their humor is just about perfect for a 1 minute chuckle.

A friend forwarded me this one though. For most people it’s probably mildly amusing at best, but it totally had me in stiches.

So iTunes 7 comes out today, and one of the newly touted features is this:

With Cover Flow, you can flip through your digital music and video collection just as you would CDs.

“Wow, that’s pretty impressive”, I thought. So I quickly downloaded and installed it and plugged in my microphone.

After I fired up iTunes I shouted into it, “Honey, where did you put Look what the cat dragged in?!” But iTunes did nothing. Flip through my collection like I do, indeed!
